A patriotic hymn composed by Mro Luigi Vella (1868-1950), with verses contributed by Prof. Luigi Billion (1860-1939) dedicated to Dr Filippo Sciberras and Dr Fortunato Mizzi. This hymn was composed when Malta was granted a measure of self-government after 120 years of British rule. It was first premiered in Sliema, on the 22nd of August 1921 to celebrate the event.
The musical score and other transcriptions for 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘯 𝘊𝘰𝘳𝘰, 𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘻𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘪 𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘷𝘰𝘤𝘪 𝘦 𝘱𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘦 and 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢 𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘢 𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢 𝘦 2 𝘷𝘰𝘤𝘪 were printed in Florence by A. Forlivesi & Co. A year later, 7.5.1922, another transcription in a reduced manner was published for orchestra with instructions to perform the known British Anthem “𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙎𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙆𝙞𝙣𝙜” immediately afterwards.
