A patriotic hymn composed by Mro Luigi Vella (1868-1950), with verses contributed by Prof. Luigi Billion (1860-1939) dedicated to Dr Filippo Sciberras and Dr Fortunato Mizzi. This hymn was composed when Malta was granted a measure of self-government after 120 years of British rule. It was first premiered in Sliema, on the 22nd of August 1921 to celebrate the event.
The musical score and other transcriptions for ππ³π’π― ππ°π³π°, π³πͺπ₯πΆπ»πͺπ°π―πͺ π±π¦π³ π·π°π€πͺ π¦ π±πͺπ’π―π°π§π°π³π΅π¦ and π±π’π³π΅πͺπ΅πΆπ³π’ π±π¦π³ ππ’ π£π’π―π₯π’ π¦ 2 π·π°π€πͺ were printed in Florence by A. Forlivesi & Co. A year later, 7.5.1922, another transcription in a reduced manner was published for orchestra with instructions to perform the known British Anthem “ππ€π πππ«π π©ππ πππ£π” immediately afterwards.
