Mr Joe Dimech, a popular news caster at PBS kindly invited the Administrator Ms Mariella Cutajar for an interview for his program entitled Newsline.
This interview concentrated on the launch of the first phase of the multimedia project consisting of a website for all the three entities namely: The Metropolitan Cathedral, the Cathedral Museum and the Chapter’s Archives. The websites comprise interesting information, high res pictures, features,
360 photography and drone footage. This interview presented the opportunity to the guest to explain some of the numerous unique artifacts such as the Preti drawings in the Cathedral, the 15 silver statures, the Ploypthique of St Paul, a unique collection of Albert Durer comprising more than 75 original etchings and engravings displayed in the Museum, the big coin collection and many
others.
This interview also highlighted the fact that various generous people entrusted the Chapter with part of their legacy or their collection. Students and researchers are very welcome and form part of the busy schedule of the Museum and the Cathedral. The Administrator explained that the main objective is to instil further interest in the general public being it the local public and the tourist who visit our island. The investment is intended to enhance not only the footfall but also to build up a well-equipped future generation which shall produce the curators and the restorers of tomorrow to
restore and conserve the heritage for tomorrow.
